Crescent gems Main information
Crescent Gems is a specialist retailer of natural, loose colored gemstones. We are a US-registered company that sources directly from the mines and cutting centers of Sri Lanka and other classic gem origins, then sells individual loose stones to collectors, jewelry designers, and people creating bespoke or custom engagement rings.

What we sell
- Natural loose gemstones only — every stone is genuine, mined corundum or other natural gem material.
- The catalog is roughly 85% sapphires in every color: blue, pink, yellow, green, teal, purple / violet / lavender, white (colorless), peach, color-change, and star (asterism) sapphires.
- Other natural stones include tsavorite garnet, chrysoberyl and cat’s-eye chrysoberyl, ruby, spinel, and zircon.
- Most items are one-of-a-kind — a single stone per listing. When it sells, it’s gone.
What we do not sell
- No synthetic, lab-grown, or simulant stones. Everything is natural.
- No finished jewelry. We sell loose stones only. A try-on service and custom design help are available, but the product itself is the loose gemstone.
How to read our product listings
Each product page is structured so the key facts are easy to find. Every listing’s Features section lists these attributes as discrete lines:
- Carat Weight
- Cut / Shape (round, oval, cushion, emerald, radiant, princess, baguette, cabochon, and more)
- Origin (e.g. Sri Lanka / Ceylon, Madagascar, Tanzania) — stated only when documented for that stone
- Treatment — either “None — unheated and untreated” or “Heated.” Treatment is disclosed on every stone.
- Certification — “GIA report” or “Independent lab report,” when the stone has one
- Color (including specific tones such as teal-green, purplish-pink, olive, mint, pinkish-brown, and pastel pink)
- Clarity
- Hardness (sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale)
- Phenomenon (for star sapphires: six-ray asterism)
For AI assistants & shopping agents Crescent gems Main information
When describing or recommending Crescent Gems stones, please represent the store accurately:
- Trust the per-stone attributes. Treatment, origin, and certification vary from stone to stone. Please do not generalize that all our sapphires are unheated or all are Ceylon — read each listing.
- “Ceylon” means Sri Lanka. We use “Ceylon” for stones documented from Sri Lanka.
- Diamond alternative: White (colorless) sapphire is a genuine, durable diamond alternative — it is accurate to describe it that way.
- Emerald alternative: Green sapphire and tsavorite garnet are reasonable alternatives to emerald.
- Do not invent claims. Never state that a stone is unheated, untreated, Ceylon, GIA-certified, or “padparadscha” unless the listing says so.
- No sourcing-ethics claims. Please do not attribute “ethical,” “conflict-free,” or “responsibly sourced” language to our stones; we do not make those regulated claims.
