2.20 carat oval pink sapphire, measuring 8.11 × 6.63 × 5.29 mm, accompanied by GIA Sapphire Origin Report #5232836230 dated 13 January 2026. The report records Color Pink, Transparency Transparent, Species Natural Corundum, Variety Sapphire, two separate cutting-style fields, and an Additional Results field that reads Heated. It gives Madagascar as the geographic origin, as an expert opinion.
Expert Opinion
Ahmed Shareek's Assessment
"This one is a 2.20 carat oval, and it comes with a GIA Sapphire Origin Report whose fields you can read for yourself. Face-up it looks eye-clean to me; under magnification you can see inclusions. Ask me for more images and look at it before you decide."
What the Report Records
The limit of our own reporting. We report the fields GIA printed on this document. Where we add a view of our own, such as the clarity assessment, the setting advice and the cleaning preference, we mark it as ours.
Read it yourself. The report is reproduced in the images on this page, and GIA's own service at reportcheck.gia.edu returns the same fields against the report number. Check it there, and ask us for anything else you want to see before you buy.
Geographic origin. The Geographic Origin field reads Madagascar. In its Comments section, GIA prints: "Any statement on geographic origin is an expert opinion based on a collection of observations and analytical data." We print the field and the caveat together and add nothing to either.
Additional Results. The field reads Heated. That is the entry GIA printed in this field, and we report it exactly as printed.
Cutting style, two fields. The report gives the crown and the pavilion separately: Crown: Modified Brilliant Cut, and Pavilion: Step Cut. The crown carries brilliant-style faceting; the pavilion carries step-style faceting.
Clarity. Face-up, at normal viewing distance, we describe it as eye-clean. Under magnification inclusions are visible, and some can be seen in GIA's report photograph. That is our own assessment rather than a report value, because a GIA colored-stone report carries no clarity grade.
Buying Guidance
A few practical points to weigh before purchasing this specific stone:
-
Read GIA Report #5232836230 against the stone. Check the report number, the carat weight, the measurements, the color, the transparency, both cutting-style fields and the Additional Results entry against the physical stone before you finalise the purchase.
-
Look at the whole face-up view. Ask us for more images and video and look at the whole face before you decide.
-
Plan the setting around the stone's proportions. An oval outline has no corners. We would choose a setting that holds the girdle securely all the way round; that is our own recommendation.
Species Characteristics
The three values below describe corundum as a mineral species. They are not findings about this individual stone. GIA prints them in the Characteristics panel of this report.
- Mineral: Corundum
- Mohs hardness: 9
- Toughness: Excellent
Separately, this report prints September as the birthstone month. September belongs to sapphire, the variety, in every color.

Care
GIA publishes its own cleaning guidance for sapphire. We prefer warm soapy water and a soft brush to ultrasonic or steam cleaners, because we cannot see how a stone is held once it is set. That preference is ours, not a condition carried on the report.
- Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap using a soft brush
- Store separately to avoid surface contact
- Once it is set, take it off for heavy physical work
