What makes two stones a "matched pair"?

A matched pair is two loose gemstones selected together for closely matching color, tone, size, and cut - matched by eye and measurement, not manufactured to match. This makes them suitable for earrings or as a symmetrical pair of side stones.

Are these pairs sold together or separately?

Each listing in this collection is for the pair as a set, priced and sold together.

What are matched pairs typically used for?

Most commonly earrings or side/accent stones flanking a center gemstone in a three-stone ring; tapered baguette and round cuts are especially suited to the latter.
